Bridge goes with a bang on M6
Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering has successfully demolished a
bridge over on the M6 as part of its contract to widen the road
between junctions 30 and 32.
The demolition involved a controlled explosion, carried out by
Nottingham Explosives, followed by the breaking down and removal of
some 1,500 tonnes of concrete during a ten-hour night possession
earlier this month. Subcontractor was Gregory Demolition.
A new 70 m span structure located north of junction 31 had been
erected before the demolition took place.
