Komatsu sprang a surprise at SED'94 by showing two new small
excavators.
The PC95 and PW95 are crawler and wheeled versions respectively of
the newest 10t excavator from Komatsu Europe.
Powered by Perkins' ubiquitous 1004.4 diesel churning out 54kW, the
machines use a dual-plus-single pump circuit system. A double
piston type pump drives boom, dipper, bucket and travel circuits
and a single-gear pump powers slew, implements and control
circuits. The so-called Multimode open circuit system offers two
operating modes - power or economy. Controls are fully-proportional
for ease of use.
There are two booms and three dippers to choose from and attachment
piping to dipper-end is standard. The boom can be offset 60 deg to
either side for easy close-up working. The swing radius is also
tight.
The cab is spacious with a comfortable, adjustable seat and the
wrist-operated controls fall readily to hand. Two-speed travel is
standard, low range gives 0-3.4km/hr. High range gives 0-5.5km/hr.
Both pedal and lever controls are fitted to the travel circuit.
