Barratt/Ideal win MoD homes

Barratt and Ideal Homes are to build 200 new homes for local people on the MoD owned Rowner Estate in Gosport. The œ11 million project is a partnership between Gosport Borough Council, MoD, Warden Housing Association, Portsmouth Housing Association, Barratt and Ideal Homes. Over 100 flats on the 1960s estate are being refurbished by the two housebuilders and a further 100 new houses are to be built. Barratt is also building 50 new houses worth œ2.8 million at two other vacant Gosport sites for sale on the open market.

Demolition work has begun in preparation for the first rehabilitation phase which involves the refurbishment of 54 flats. There are a further 500 homes on the estate which may lead to more contracts going out at a later date.
