Green light for Chunnel terminal
The œ380 million International Channel Tunnel Freight Terminal
at Hams Hall in north Warwickshire was given the final go-ahead by
Environment Secretary John Gummer last week.
Gummer gave the scheme a provisional go-ahead in January provided
that measures were taken to reduce the impact of traffic on the
local road network. An agreement has now been reached with the
developers PowerGen and Trafalgar House Business Parks.
The DoE has accepted that it is unrealistic for the freight
terminal to go-ahead without the proposed freight village.
