Consultants urge changes to CCT

Consultants are urging the Government to water down its proposals for compulsory competitive tendering of professional services by local authorities.

The RICS has joined forces with the RIBA and the ICE to argue their case.

They say that all client functions - strategic advice, asset management and the commissioning and monitoring of consultancy work - should stay in house.

They accept that beyond this a majority of consultancy work - including feasibility studies, design work and contract management - can go out to competition.
