The ones that didn't get away
Christiani/O'Rourke has had an œ8.5 million advanced work
contract interrupted, while representatives of the National Rivers
Authority moved 650 lbs of marine and freshwater fish.
The fish, which even included a Dover sole, were left stranded when
a cofferdam was drained in preparation for the construction of the
Canary Wharf Jubilee line station. In an operation named 'hook,
line and sinker', the fish were caught in huge nets and transferred
to the nearby River Thames.
It is not known if the workmen brought their rods in the hope of
overtime work catching the ones that got away.
