Crane collapse at Severn Bridge
The collapse last Thursday of a gantry crane on the Second Severn
Bridge is being investigated by a team from the Health and Safety
Executive. Nobody was injured in the incident which damaged a 5m by
3m section of the bridge deck.
A spokesman for Laing said the completion date should not be
affected. The rear crab of the gantry crane was carrying a 200
tonne section of decking and moving backwards when it keeled over.
