Mexico work for Grupo Sitra
Grupo Sitra (jointly owned by Trafalgar House and Grupo Sidek) has
won two contracts in Mexico worth a total of œ55 million. The
main contract is a œ50 million hotel and office tower in the
centre of Mexico City.
The 30-storey, Hilton Hotel will provide 51,000m2 of floor space.
The hotel will feature 360 bedrooms with bars, restaurants,
gymnasiums and a ballroom.
The rest of the space will be used as offices. Six basement levels
will provide 19,600m2 of car parking space.
Work starts this month on the bored pile concrete foundation and
basement floor slab with retaining walls. The central service core
will be built in reinforced concrete and with a steel frame for the
tower. Lower levels will be clad in granite stone panels, and upper
storeys in a mixture of aluminium panels and light weight
cladding.
The second contract is a œ5 million project for 13km of
earthworks on the Tuxpan to Mexico City road. Grupo Sitra will work
with its joint venture partner, Mexican contractor Alpha Omega.
