Bradshaw adds new Railroader

William Bradshaw (Plant Hire and Contractors) has added a fourth specialist railways maintenance Railroader machine from Liebherr to its fleet.

Liebherr's A900-ZW Railroader - a Litronic excavator - is capable of running both on road and rails. Hydraulically operated rail bogies are lowered onto the track, leaving the drive wheels with sufficient traction to move the excavator along the rails. Weighing in at 19.5t the A900-ZW has a 2.2m offset dipper, giving an 8.5m long reach when in the straight position. Front-end attachments include a rail-handling 'thimble', a swivel lifting hook and rotating hydraulic clamshell. An extra hydraulic circuit has been supplied for hammer attachments.

Hydraulically operated stabilisers allow a lifting capability of up to 8.7t. Without stabilisers the machine, free-on-wheels, can lift up to 5t.

The high level of railway maintenance currently being carried out in the UK, led to William Bradshaw's investment in the A900-ZW railroader.
