The way he told'em blunt
Proving that every cloud has a silver lining, Backbites has learned
of a design and build contractor who profited from a most
unpropitious D&B conference.
Normally the order of these things is that converts pay a modest
sum to hear someone preach to them what they already believe.
But in this case, the contractor paid out œ800 for two tickets
to an RIBA conference on design and build opportunities for
architects, only to hear speaker after speaker slag off the
one-stop shop concept.
By mid afternoon he could hold his peace no longer. Rising during
questions, he delivered a thundering rebuke. The silver lining came
in the interval: not only was his back slapped all the way to the
tea room, but a client approached him and promptly gave him a job!
