Wet work for Snorkel
An unusual use for a Snorkel Economy ATB60 access platform was
discovered in the small German town of Wuppertal. When truck
mounted platforms created traffic chaos whilst carrying out routine
inspection of a railway bridge adjacent to the main road into
Wuppertal, the German authorities sought a different approach.
Instead of approaching the bridge from the road, the authorities -
using the advice of a local contractor - decided to inspect the
bridge from the river using Snorkel's ATB60 4x4.
Powered by a Hatz diesel engine, the 4x4 machine was driven into
the river. In spite of the river's depth which varied from 2ft to
4ft, the machine managed to move along the riverbed and raise the
platform to the relevant height for the task using its telescopic
boom.
