Hackney lines up regeneration bids
Five housing associations and nine developer contractors are being
lined up by Hackney Council in London to compete for a œ42
million regeneration contract. The groundbreaking scheme will see
the council pick a partnership of one contractor and one housing
association which will then buy a piece of prime building land from
the council for development.
The money raised by Hackney will be used to carry out work
including rented housing, community facilities or infrastructure.
The nine contractors will be chosen from Costain, Wimpey, Laing,
Barratt, Hall and Tawse Partnership, Countryside, Lovell, Alfred
McAlpine, Willmott Dixon, Rydon and DJ Higgins.
