RBS continues Edinburgh complex
The Royal Bank of Scotland is to go ahead with the œ40 million
second phase of its Edinburgh office complex at The Gyle in west
Edinburgh. The second phase of Drummond House will add a further
20,150m2 to the existing 27,400m2. The first phase was built by Sir
Robert McAlpine under a construction management contract and was
opened in July 1993. A spokesman for the bank said that RBS was in
the process of contacting companies to draw up a shortlist.
'Obviously, those who worked on the site before and know it, will
have an advantage,' said the spokesman. The shortlist will be
complete in about two months' time.
The aim is to begin enabling works in late autumn with completion
scheduled for spring 1997. Michael Laird Partnership has been
retained as architect, with Tozer Gallacher as QS and Blyth &
Blyth as structural and M&E consultants. The bank's own
property arm will act as project manager.
