Kier London wins Tower Hamlets rebuild

Kier London has won an œ8 million contract from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to renovate Winterton House, a 25-storey tower block, on the Watney Market Estate. The block, which has been empty for three years, will be turned into new housing.

The original reinforced concrete core with structural steel frame is being retained. Kier's work involves putting in new piled foundations, 25 storeys of load bearing external brickwork and a new frame at roof level. New concrete floors will be built on the existing steel frame and 138 flats reconstructed and fitted out.
