Commenting on the acquisition of Mowlem Homes, the Beazer boss proudly announced that 'it brings a good management team and quality assets.' Unfortunately, that management team is headed by ... you guessed, Dennis Webb.

'There was some hilarity about their identical names, but the good news is the post never got mixed up once during negotiations,' says Mowlem's John Marshall.

'It is going to cause far more problems now John Mowlem Homes has become Beazer Homes.

'I think they were considering whether one of them ought to change his name by deed poll.'
