Kier seizes HK airport job


Kier Hong Kong has won the contract to provide the first stage sewerage works for the new airport on Chek Lap Kok island and its satellite new town, Tung Chung, on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. Kier and its partners Sung Foo Kee and China Fujian Corporation will construct a sewage pumping station to serve the new airport, Tung Chung new town and Discovery Bay. A preliminary sewage treatment plant will be built at Siu Ho Wan.

A œ42.5 million contract has been awarded to Shui On Civil Contractors and China Harbour Engineering for the construction of local roads, drainage and a 290m concrete bridge linking Tung Chung new town and Chek Lap Kok airport. Both schemes are fixed price, lump sum contracts.

l Gardiner and Theobald International has been appointed by D Blankevoort International Dredging Company to provide quantity surveying services on a œ70 million reclamation project at the Yau Ma Tei typhoon shelter in Hong Kong. The reclamation forms part of the works being carried out to provide road and rail links to Chek Lap Kok.
