Angry mums stymie work on Jubilee
Work on the œ70 million contract 105 of the Jubilee line
extension is being delayed by a group of angry mothers who believe
their children are in danger from contractors' vehicles.
Jubilee Line Extension (JLE) fears ground stabilisation work on the
Bermondsey contract may have to be delayed until after the school
summer holidays. The main contractor for the whole contract is a
Aoki-Soletanche joint venture.
A JLE spokeswoman said: 'We would much rather continue with work
now, as there are other areas which also need stabilising. But even
if work was held up until September it should not affect the
tunnelling start which is scheduled for April next year.'
Work on preparing a grout shaft for the London Bridge to Canada
Water tunnels has been at a standstill since last Wednesday.
