Redrow wins Festival site stage two
Redrow Homes has clinched a deal to become lead developer for the
œ10 million second phase of development of the former Garden
Festival site at Victoria, near Ebbw Vale, in South Wales. Redrow,
tipped to take the appointment (see CJ, 24 March), will build the
centrepiece of the new urban village.
Redrow has already built 50 private new homes in the first phase, a
commitment that will have helped its bid for the second phase. It
will now build 200 new homes, shops, offices and other community
facilities over the next five years.
The urban village project is being spearheaded by Victoria
Partnership - a joint venture between the Welsh Development Agency,
Blaenau Gwent Borough Council and Gwent County Council. 500 new
homes are planned in total, along with a 10ha technology area, 5ha
business park and 22ha of landscaped parkland.
