Sir; Being managing director of my own small building and civil engineering company and struggling through our own recession this past four years, I would like to congratulate John Marshall on his success at putting Mowlem back on a 'solid foundation'. The reason I use the words 'solid foundation' is based on an extract from his own words. 'With' some excellent long serving senior staff. That is what solid foundations are made of, and I hope others will follow his example and reverse the trend of shedding senior staff.

There was a time when the senior staff were the consultants, the difference then was the consultants were out in the park with their sleeves rolled up, and most contracts were completed to programme with no budget overruns and very few cock ups. John, may the road rise with you, and the wind be always at your back.
