Road cuts end Nuttall's bid
Nuttall has lost out at the eleventh hour in its bid to win the
œ35 million North Bridge Relief Road in Doncaster. The
contractor was favourite to take the contract, but a last minute
withdrawal of funding by the DoT has denied Nuttall the job.
The loss of funds has also come as a severe blow to Doncaster
Council, which has already spent œ6 million on the scheme. The
project was only eight weeks away from a start on site.
Councillor Peter Welsh, leader of Doncaster Council, described the
decision as disastrous. 'At best, this decision is naive and, at
worst, irresponsible and petty.'
