John Mowlem has won a œ7.1 million contract for the
refurbishment and extension to the Time & Life Building in New
Bond Street, London, for AMP Asset Management. The project will
provide 6,000m2 of office accommodation and basement car parking
when completed in early 1996. GA has won œ28m in new contracts
recently, including, a four-storey office block in Edinburgh for
Scottish & Newcastle, the refurbishment of Marks & Spencer
stores in Stirling and Perth, an Asda superstore in Cumbernauld and
the refurbishment of an office building in Leeds.
Marriots have won an œ11m contract to build a new
bio-chemistry wing for the University of Cambridge.
Thomas Armstrong Construction has secured a œ4.3m contract
with British Aerospace Military Aircraft Division to refurbish No.4
shed at Samlesbury Aerodrome.
A consortium of four housing associations, Enterprise 5, Endeavour,
Three Rivers and Cleveland and Teesside Housing Associations, on
Tyneside and Teesside, is to invite tenders in March for a œ5m
new housing and refurbishment contract. Bids are being handled by
QS Elliott Associates of Rowlands Gill, Tyne and Wear.
Willmott Dixon has a œ3.5m contract in joint venture with
Matthew Hall, for the second phase of the new Woking Community
Hospital for Weybourne Community NHS Trust.
Transcare Health has won a œ3m contract to construct and
operate a 22 bed private hospital and post graduate medical centre
for Thanet Healthcare NHS Trust. It will be linked to Thanet
General Hospital.
Christiani and Nielsen has a œ2.9m contract to build a
technical centre for Dronfield School in Derbyshire.
Tarmac has been awarded a œ2.8m contract to reconstruct 2.2
miles of the M18 between junction 3 and 4, near Rotherham.
Tilbury Douglas has been awarded a œ4.2m motorway
communications network upgrade contract in Avon and Somerset. The
work involves some 140km of cable trench for fibre optic and power
cables in verges and central reserve on sections of the M5, M4 and
M32 motorways.
