Five cranes for roof lift

A quintet of cranes from four manufacturers has been used by Beck and Pollitzer Engineering to lift the canopy of a new service station into place at Haydock in Merseyside.

Two Kato cranes (25t and 35t) joined a 60t Grove, a 45t Krupp and a 25t PPM to carry out the synchronised lift. Five cranes were needed not because of the weight but to prevent distortion of the canopy. The job took two and a half hours from start to finish.
