Girls invited onto sites
Employees across the industry are being urged to give their
daughters a special day out on 27 April - on their construction
sites.
The entreaty comes from the Equal Opportunities Working Group of
the Latham Review, and is aimed at enticing more women to think
about a career in construction.
Chairman of the group, Ian Dixon, said: 'The initiative is aimed at
girls between 11 and 15, and the earlier they begin thinking of our
industry in terms of a future career, the better. We have a lot of
ground to make up.
'We are keen to show girls every side of the industry, especially
life on site.'
