Beams cut-up under Big Ben

A Balfour Beatty/Amec joint venture called in a 300t crane to its Westminster station site, on contract 102 of the Jubilee Line Extension, last weekend to remove two roof beams from the existing station. Under the lit face of Big Ben the two 30t beams - which being 115 years old were very fragile - were carefully lifted, cut up and removed.
