An entirely new hydraulically operated rising bollard for both
traffic control and security applications, offering exceptional
robustness combined with ease of maintenance, has been introduced
by BPT Automation Ltd. Called Europost, it provides an effective
alternative to traffic barriers and road blockers, with high
resistance to vandalism and ram-raiding. When not required it can
easily be lowered to make a flat, flush finish with the road
surface.
Two models are available: the Midi (100mm dia) and Maxi (200mm dia)
- all rising to 600mm.
Safety control is provided by vehicle sensing loops located either
side of the bollard, which prevent it from rising until it is safe
to do so. Pressure control is also provided to avoid any risk that
the bollard will rise when a pedestrian is standing on it.
Midi and Maxi models can be fitted with integral warning lights
which flash prior to and during operation. When the bollard is
fully extended, the lights remain on all the time.
Standard rise and fall time is 6 seconds, and 4 seconds
respectively. In multiple parking bay applications, several
bollards can be operated by one pump with individual control
solenoid valves. All Europosts can be activated by a wide range of
control devices, such as hand-held radio transmitters, card or
token readers, vehicle sensing loops and traffic lights. The
hydraulic pump unit is housed in a galvanised steel cabinet mounted
away from the bollard, to which it is connected by pipework.
