Strathclyde Regional Council is inviting tenders for an œ11m refurbishment contract of the M8 between junctions 5 and 6. Work includes construction of verges, hardshoulders and reconstruction and/or overlay of running lanes. Some stabilisation of existing embankments may also be necessary.



TayWood Homes is to build in Wales for the first time. Following the acquisition of Heron Homes in 1994, it will build 71 homes at Cennan Mead in Pentwyn on the outskirts of Cardiff.



The Connaught Group has been awarded a œ9m contract to refurbish five blocks of flats at Bishport Avenue, Hartcliffe for Bristol City Council.



Amec has a œ6m contract to build a 16,722m2 non-food retail project at the Great Western Retail Park, Drumchapel, Glasgow for Chartwell Land.

Rydon Construction has won a œ5.3m design and build contract for the redevelopment of Davis and Willmott Close, Winnersh, Wokingham. The scheme will provide 111 new homes for Toynbee and Sanctuary Housing Associations.



Dean and Dyball has a œ4.3m contract for a coastal defence scheme at Reculver, Herne Bay in Kent for the NRA and a œ3.8m contract in Swindon for a multi-storey carpark for Thamesdown BC.



Hall and Tawse has a œ4m contract for new student accommodation on the former Player factory site of Radford Boulevard in Nottingham for Nottingham Trent University. It also has a œ3m contract for Walsall Metropolitan BC to renovate five blocks of flats at the town's Paddock Estate.



Tarmac Contract Housing has a œ3.5m refurbishment contract in St Helens for St Helens BC, and a œ3.3m contract to remove flat roofs on 14 blocks of flats and replace them with tiled pitched roofs in Leicester for the city council.



Lilly Construction, part of the Sunley Turriff Group, has won a œ1.2m design and build contract for a maritime heritage centre at Peterhead. The 730m2 single storey building is due to open in spring 1996.
