Stewart's no wimp
Poor old Wimpey. The company has bent over backwards to prevent
major problems with protestors on its M77 site near Glasgow.
Contingency plans include addressing the protestor's worries and
trying to solve their problems as well as practical measures such
as issuing instructions to all staff and subcontractors on how to
behave when facing demonstrations. It was all working quite well -
until Scottish Minister Allan Stewart stepped in and grabbed a
pickaxe in a confrontation near the site. Wimpey's strategy for
peace on the M77 omitted to include the actions of Tory ministers.
Still, if the going gets tough, perhaps Stewart would like to take
on the security subcontract.
