Miller wins pump tender
Miller Civil Engineering has finally clinched the long delayed
civil engineering and mechanical contract for the new North
Woolwich pumping station in London's Docklands with a bid of
œ11.3 million.
Tenders for the Thames Water/London Docklands Development
Corporation project were returned last summer, but have only now
been awarded.
The scheme represents the final stage of the strategic drainage
infrastructure for the Royal Docks.
The pumping station, designed by Nicholas Grimshaw Architects, will
be built on a site in North Woolwich, downstream of the Thames
Barrier. Work starts this month for completion by January
1997.
n Miller Construction has been awarded the œ7.5 million
building contract for the 18,525m2 non-food retail park at
Hermiston Gait in west Edinburgh. The client is New Edinburgh, a
joint venture between the Miller Group and Edinburgh Development
and Investment.
