Mott designs flood scheme to save Hull
Mott MacDonald is to design a œ20 million scheme to help
protect Hull against flooding from the Humber Estuary.
The commission from the National Rivers Authority follows studies
showing that Hull's flood defences are at risk from surge tides
resulting from rising sea levels and wave heights.
The project covers 15km of the Humber frontage - from the Humber
Bridge to Salt End. Mott MacDonald will investigate options to
improve defences, followed by detailed designs.
One possibility includes major lock gate replacement for the Queen
Elizabeth, Alexandra and Albert Docks.
