Amec's Shiplee takes on HK job

Amec building director Howard Shiplee, who last year received the award for project manager of the year from the Chartered Institute of Building for his work at Manchester Airport, has been appointed project director on Hong Kong's massive œ800 million new airport terminal at Chek Lap Kok.

Shiplee will be working for the British Chinese Japanese Joint Venture (BCJ) which was awarded the terminal contract by Hong Kong's provisional airport authority last month.

As well as Amec, the BCJ joint venture comprises Balfour Beatty, the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, Kumagai Gumi and the Maeda Corporation.
