Ashtead results scotches gloom Rental rates for plant hire are barely improving from 'depressed levels' and things are not due to get any better in the near future, according to Ashtead Group chairman Peter Lewis.

Even so, Ashtead's interim results (for the six months to October 1994) make encouraging reading, showing turnover more than 50% higher at œ32 million while pre-tax profits doubled to œ6.6 million.
