RIBA's Luder takes seat on Jarvis board
Jarvis has brought RIBA president-elect Owen Luder on to its board
as a non-executive director.
The ground-breaking appointment is aimed at furthering the
company's non-adversarial approach to contracting, instigated by
new chief executive Paris Moayedi. It will be the first time a
serving RIBA president has ever worked on the board of a
construction firm.
'Many companies have a quantity surveyor on the board. But you will
be hard pressed to find one with an architect,' commented Moayedi.
Bringing design and construction closer together is one of
Moayedi's key management aims. A number of architects have been
appointed to senior positions, including David Hutchison - designer
of the first D&B hospital at Fyffe - as projects
director.
Owen Luder said: 'It is important to bridge this gap between
professionals and construction, manufacturing and supply.
Architects have a lot to offer.'
