Bristol bids for Lottery funds

Bristol has launched a œ65 million bid to win funds from the National Lottery and Millennium Fund to help construct its œ130 million Canon's Marsh development. The initial chunk of funds would go towards building Wildscreen World, an electronic zoo and large-format cinema, and Science World, a high-tech centre.

Further projects include a new Centre for the Performing Arts, including a 2,300 seat arena which will replace the Colston Hall. The Harbourside will also feature a plaza with housing, retail elements, offices and restaurants. The bid is being headed by Bristol 2000, a partnership comprising Bristol City Council, the Chamber of Commerce and Initiative and South West Arts.
