Taylor Woodrow Construction's workforce is to be decimated in UK
cuts which will see 250 jobs lost across the board over the next
year.
The cuts were flagged up last week during its results. City
analysts estimate the division losses ran to œ8 million but
said these cuts would put the company back on course.
Job losses run from top to bottom with the board reduced from 13
down to seven. T Costelloe, Taywood's Hayes-based specialist
subcontractor, will be run down and Taymech Engineering will also
cease bidding for new work to concentrate on 'expanding its
maintenance operation.
A Taywood spokesman said that the company could not give firm
figures because 'a number of team members may be taken into other
areas of the business. We will consider the situation as the year
progresses.'
The loss of sales director Gordon Knight from the board caused
ripples around the industry, prompting Taywood to reaffirm its
commitment to PFI which Knight was involved in.
Other board losses include Eric Frondigoun, Nigel Grover and Nigel
Marks. John Smith and Derek Limbert were also removed but will
remain as MDs of Taywood Engineering and Taywood Civil Engineering.
