In a month buzzing with news of innovative products, Komatsu
Europe's hot gossip is the launch of its PC210-6 and PC240-6
excavators and 62.5kW PW130 wheeled hydraulic excavator.
As well as offering dash-6 technology, the PC210-6 and PC240-6 are
not only more rounded, but they are also lower in profile than
their dash-5 predecessors.
Komatsu's innovation is more than skin deep - significant features
include Komatsu's HydrauMind hydraulic circuit system. The concept
- also present on Komatsu's PW130 wheeled excavator - relies on
hydraulic fluid being pumped directly to a series of actuators.
The company claims actuator speed governed by lever movement, as
opposed to load, results in a rapid and smooth reaction to operator
commands. With heavy or awkward loads only slight lever commands
are necessary.
Other benefits of the dash-6 package include a temporary 9% power
boost from the Power Max function, and a Swift Slowdown function -
a first for Komatsu - which allows the operator to reduce operating
speeds during particularly precise work. The two travel speed
selector featured on the dash-5 models becomes a three speed
selector on the dash-6.
Within the cab, improved ergonomics sees the introduction of a new
display monitor which can be tilted to avoid glare and
reflection
Komatsu's wheeled excavator, the PW130, is powered by Komatsu's S4D
turbocharged engine and can be supplied with different
undercarriage configurations. Fitted with either a one or two piece
boom including Komatsu's 360¼ rotating arm, the machine is a
plus for contractors seeking versatility.
Bucket capacities range from 0.14m-0.9m3 and safety features
include full hydraulic wet disc brakes and a fully automatic/manual
suspension lock.
