Cool conditions for West country cops
Crown House Engineering
(left) is installing innovative chilled ceiling panels in Higgs
& Hill's œ15 million Avon and Somerset police HQ in
Bristol to give the girls and boys in blue cool working
conditions.
The chilled panels work with 'air displacement ventilation' to
provide what is now known as comfort cooling. Air is introduced at
floor level at just below room temperature (18¼C). As it heats
up through contact with people and machinery it rises to the
ceiling panels which are chilled to 16¼C. The cooled air then
descends and recirculates. The project is due for completion in
May.
