David McLean wins sixth safety award

Construction and housebuilding firm David McLean Group has been awarded its sixth British Safety Council National Safety Award for its accident record in 1994.

The firm's northern division won the award which requires a contractor to achieve an accident rate of 20% below the national average.

The British Safety Council said that if every firm achieved the standards required by the awards, five million worker days a year would be saved.
