GEC Alsthom has won a œ24m order for the rehabilitation and
upgrading of the Paldang hydroelectric power station in South
Korea.
Bryant Construction Southern is to build a new œ7m Weymouth
and District Land Registry Building. The three-storey block with a
single storey facilities building will be built in brick and has
250 parking spaces.
Laing North East is understood to be in the frame for a œ5m
design, build and fit out contract for a five-storey precast
concrete-framed office for the Benefits Agency on a site near
Sunderland's Empire Theatre.

Lacey Simmons has a œ4.5m contract to construct a new wing at
the American Community School, Hillingdon, Middlesex; a œ2.6m
contract to renovate and convert the listed Barford Court at Hove,
East Sussex and a œ2.5m D&B contract for 26 flats and 30
houses for Acton HA in Ruislip, Middlesex.
Tarmac, in conjunction with architect Corstorphine & Wright,
has a œ2.5m contract to build a 5,520m2 extension for IMI
Norgren in Shipston on Stour.
Simons Construction has started work on a œ2.3m project to
build a 2,392m2 UK headquarters for Advanced Micro Devices at
Frimley in Surrey.
The Welsh Development Agency is seeking expressions of interest for
a œ6m, 13,800m2 bespoke factory development in the South Wales
Valley area. It comprises a two-storey office block, fully fitted
production area with air handling, external access road, car
parking and new road link to highway.
The Highways Agency is seeking a contractor for a œ5m contract
to reconstruct around 4km of three-lane motorway on the M62 from
