McAlpine Int jv wins huge HK runway job
An Alfred McAlpine International joint venture has won a œ225
million contract for the main runway and other airfield works at
Hong Kong's new airport.
The award is the third largest airport contract to be awarded by
the Provisional Airport Authority. McAlpine's partners are Paul Y
Construction of Hong Kong and Downer of Hong Kong and New
Zealand.
The work includes the construction of the southern runway and
taxiways; terminal aprons; crossfield taxiways; business aviation,
maintenance and cargo aprons and other general civil engineering
works. Total area of pavement required is 2,700,000m2. Other UK
contractors bidding were Amec, Costain, Wimpey and Gammon
Construction.
