Campaign gets girls on sites
The construction industry will take its daughters to work this
week. Today's (27 April) 'Take Our Daughters to Work Day' will see
the traditionally male dominated industry open its doors to the
daughters of employees as part of a national campaign aimed at
introducing 11-15 year old girls to a wider range of career
opportunities.
Edmund Nuttall and the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation are
joining up with Women in Construction to give 20 girls from South
Glamorgan schools hands-on experience of the construction
industry.
Laing has also invited girls from Hawksmoor school in Borehamwood
to visit their Laing Homes site.
And Willmott Dixon has set up a special day to try to encourage
more women into the industry.
