London office market boom predicted
Contractors can look forward to a significant expansion in the
commercial office market over the next two years in the City and
West End of London, according to the latest survey by Jones Lang
Wootton.
Some 184,000m2 is under construction at the moment. JLW expects
368,000m2 of offices to start in 1995 and a further 598,000m2 to
start in 1996.
Planning permission in the City of London now stands at record
levels of over 1.5 million square metres, but only a tenth of that
is under construction.
Sixteen projects, each with over 25,000m2 account for over half the
total space, including Paternoster Square (119,000m2) and the Daily
Mirror buildings (72,000m2).
A further 30 schemes will each provide 10,000m2 or more.
