September start for construction of œ50m Hastings retail centre
Construction work on the œ50 million Priory Meadow shopping
centre in Hastings is expected to start in September. A demolition
and enabling contract will begin later this month. The main
contract has yet to go to tender, but a shortlist is thought to
have been drawn up in readiness.
The centre is a joint venture between Boot Properties and Hastings
Council. The centre will consist of 50 units. Marks & Spencer
will take 4,000m2 and BHS 3,400m2. Two further large units are also
included in the centre. Priory Meadows is scheduled to open in
March 1997.
