MJ Gleeson's Northern Division has picked up a string of contracts worth œ25m. Largest is a œ7.8m contract to build an eight-storey, 10,000m2 office complex in Manchester, for Chestergate Seddon. It also has a œ4.7m contract to build social housing in Stockport for Lancashire Hill Estate Action; a œ4.7m D&B contract for 83 homes in Sunderland for Home HA; and a œ3.6m D&B contract for a building in Doncaster to be occupied by the Benefits Agency.



Willmott Dixon Housing Southern, has won a œ5.9m contract for new build and refurbishment work at the former Northeye Prison in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex to turn it into a residential and educational establishment for the Embassy of United Arab Emirates. Housing Eastern has a œ4.3m contract to build 24 flats and 75 houses at Isleworth for Ealing Family HA, London, while Construction London Region has a œ3.2m contract for work at the Lyceum Theatre in London.

Higgs & Hill Design & Build has started work on a œ4.7m leisure complex, including eight screen cinema, bowling centre and restaurants, for Watford Leisure Corporation at Woodside Leisure Park in Watford. It also has a œ3.8m contract for a four-storey apartment block at Corringway, London, NW11 for Gable House Estates.



Pochin has been awarded a œ4.5m fast-track contract by Harris Logistics to build a 23,000m2 distribution centre at Motherwell in Scotland.



Try Build has been awarded two fit-out contracts by BhS with a total value of more than œ3.5m. The stores are in the Queensgate Centre, Peterborough and the Mulberry Tree Centre in Stratford upon Avon.



Norwest Holst has started work on a œ3.4m contract to construct the River and Rowing Museum at Mill Meadows, Henley-on-Thames.



Kier London has been awarded a three year term maintenance contract worth œ2.2m by Beaver Housing Society for properties in in South London and in Medway, Kent.



Leicester Royal Infirmary is seeking a contractor to build a œ7m, three-story building which will be linked to the existing hospital. The work will be undertaken using the JCT 80 standard form.



John Brown Engineering has a six year contract with Fellside Heat and Power to operate and maintain its new combined heat and power plant in Cumbria.
