LPH adds to rental fleet

UK plant hirer LPH Plant Hire has added 50 Caterpillar CB-224C double drum vibratory soil compactors to its plant fleet. The company, part of the Lovell Group, ordered the 2.4t machines as part of a major investment in its equipment rental fleet.

Headquartered at High Wycombe and operating out of 15 depots throughout the UK, LPH Plant Hire specialises in hiring non-operated equipment and runs a fleet which includes more than 6,000 plant items. The new rollers were supplied by Cat dealers Finning and Leverton and join an equipment fleet which includes more than 350 items of compaction equipment.

At a time when other UK plant hirers are finally fighting off the effects of the recession, LPH is looking ahead with considerable confidence. A company restructuring programme, which has seen LPH make the move towards the use of larger depots, has also brought about a considerable reinvestment in plant and equipment. Colin Oldfield, md of LPH, reports that the company has invested around œ12 million in its plant fleet during the last two years.

'UK plant hirers have relied upon low hire rates to attract business for far too long. We believe that forward thinking contractors now recognise the importance of equipment quality and responsive after sales service - hence our investment in Cat rollers.'

The machines are already helping out on the M25 widening project.
