First Komatsu D155A-3 in Scotland
W W Graham Contractors of Bathgate recently took delivery of the
first Komatsu D155A-3 'dozer to be sold in Scotland.
Although Graham was formed as a plant hire company it now
concentrates its activities on opencast coal production. It
operates three licensed sites and the new Komatsu has been put to
work at one of these, Harthill.
The machine operates as an overburden ripper, and as a
straightforward 'dozer' on general site duties like clear-up and
site road maintenance. Powered by Komatsu's 225kW diesel engine it
drives through a Torqflow powershift transmission and its Resilient
Equalised Undercarriage (REU) means it copes well with the tough
site conditions.
