First UK Weighbar weighbridge sited
A Cambridgeshire firm, Mick George Haulage, has become the first
business in the UK to install a road weighbridge based on the
Weighbar principle.
After expanding its traditional earth and aggregate haulage
business to include sand extraction and transportation, md Mick
George identified the need for a rugged and accurate
weighbridge.
The subsequent tender process, which placed a major emphasis on the
speed of installation, resulted in the Newmarket based weighing
specialist Todd Scales being awarded the contract.
From receiving the order right through to full commissioning only
took three weeks.
Located at the entrance/exit of the site in St Ives, the 16m
surface-mounted Weighbar weighbridge has a 50,000kg capacity and is
linked to a Salter Weigh Tronix WI 120 electronic weight indicator,
which allows tare and gross readings to be recorded as wagons enter
and leave the site.
