Long-reach Cat

The UK's first Cat 325L super reach excavator, recently put to work at a sand and gravel quarry in Birmingham, is proving a suitable alternative to a 30-year-old dragline.

The unit, recently supplied by Cat dealer Finning, is currently being used for riverbed sand extraction at Tilcon's Worcester operation.

The 28-29.5t machine with an 18m reach, is able, unlike the dragline, to win material above the floor line as well as below.
