Pel-Job demolition shear used in Berkley Square
The first Pel-Job demolition shear supplied in the UK is being used
by John F Hunt (Demolition) on a contract at Berkley Square in
London where Bovis Construction is demolishing a former bank.
The PDH 3R 'concrete cracker' has been fitted to a Pel-Job EB506
mini excavator which is working at roof level, along with a second
machine equipped with an hydraulic breaker.
The shear attachment is one of three models available from Pel-Job.
The units are designed for use with machines in the 2-8t range. At
the cutters and points, the 330kg PDH 3R offers respective closing
forces of 60t and 30t. The 'concrete cracker' gives a maximum
opening of 400mm.
The two units - on hire from Hewden Hire - were selected because of
their 5t operating weight and ability to power hydraulic shears and
other demolition attachments.
The machines low ground bearing pressure enabled them to work on
suspended floors - a central part of the task.
