Simon aims at construction
The new ALP340 from Simon Access is aimed at UK and world Fire
Services. But when it is transformed into the VT340 it will be
aimed at the construction industry. West Midlands Fire Service used
its training HQ to demonstrate the ALP340 early in June.
Although the ALP340 is mounted on a six-legger Mercedes Benz
chassis but there are plans to make other chassis types available.
The 340 offers a 34m working height with maximum outreach of 25m,
carrying an 80kg payload. Even carrying 400kg, outreach is a hefty
23m. There is also drop-down ability to reach 5m below road level.
When it becomes the VT340, working height and outreach will
increase by 2m.
Two control consoles, mounted at platform and turntable level, show
the operator the operational parameters at a glance. Pushbuttons
and multi-directional joysticks control machine functions and are
designed for fumble-free operation in all weathers.
Simon is working on new variants which will take the family up to a
50m unit mounted on an eight-wheeler chassis.
