Level 2 utilities NVQ launched
A new Level 2 national vocational qualification in public utilities
distribution has been launched by the Construction Industry
Training Board and City and Guilds.
The NVQ, which was developed in conjunction with representatives
from all the major utilities, comprises four modules: site
preparation, excavation, reinstatement and workplace safety.
All operatives taking the NVQ will train and be assessed in these
four core units, but will also have a range of optional units to
choose from.
These include topics on gas, water mains, water services, service
ducting, electricity cable laying, and communications cable
laying.
Full information on the new NVQ can be obtained from John Glasgow
of CITB on 01553 776677.
